PENTECOSTES- THE FEAST OF PENTECOST and Shavuot

50 days after Resurrection Sunday, 10 days after the ASCENSION OF CHRIST,  the 2nd Person of the DIVINE TRINITY goes BACK TO HIS FORMER GLORY, recovering His Former UNION WITH GOD THE FATHER.

PENTECOST SUNDAY celebrates THE DESCENT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT, the 3rd Person of the DIVINE TRINITY to live in men that accept CHRIST as THEIR SAVIOUR from eternal condemnation and ONLY MEDIATOR with GOD, the CREATOR.

1. Pentecost Sunday marks the day when the Holy Spirit descended upon the Apostles.

2. Pentecost Sunday occurs 50 days after Resurrection Sunday.

No 1.º  Domingo de Pentecostes,  50 dias depois da Ressurreição de Cristo, Jerusalém encontrava-se cheia de Judeus dos mais diversos países, que vinham celebrar a Festa das Semanas, Shavuot, festa de agradecimento pelas colheitas, pelos Primeiros Frutos. Esta festa celebrava também a entrega da Lei de Deus no Monte Sinai, 50 dias depois da libertação dos Egípcios de uma morte quase inevitável nas vagas do Mar Vermelho ou às mãos dos Egípcios.

Nessa festa em que se celebrava a entrega da Lei aos homens, Deus fez descer o Seu Espírito Santo para começar a escrever a Lei de Deus nos corações dos homens que O receberem. Uma Lei não escrita em pedras.

About PENTECOST DAY - Sobre o DIA DE PENTECOSTES-The Outpouring of the Spirit of God - O Derramamento do Espírito de Deus sobre homens

Muitos Judeus residentes noutros países encontravam-se nesse dia em Jerusalém, porque era um dia especial de celebração. Ficaram surpreendidos quando ouviram homens desconhecedores  de línguas estrangeiras a louvar a Deus nas línguas de outros povos. 
Tinham-se passado 50 dias após a Ressurreição de Jesus e 10 após a Sua Subida para Deus Pai.
The Pentecost was a Jewish celebration that occurred 50 days after the Passover feast.

 The name itself comes from the Greek work “pentekoste,” meaning “fiftieth.”

The day of Pentecost, found in Acts 2, was an incredible event.  Peter taught the multitude that this pouring out of the Spirit was a fulfillment of prophecy in the Old Testament, that God said He would pour out His Spirit in the last days.  He testified of Jesus Christ and His power and taught the multitude of prophecy, miracles, and gifts of the Spirit.

They were invited to repent and be baptized in Christ’s name and to receive the Holy Spirit.  3,000 people were baptized!

Many spiritual gifts were made apparent that day.

 They spoke in different foreign languages about the wonders of God.  They understood each other, even if they spoke different languages that they were not acquainted with.  They were filled with a desire to follow God and be baptized.  They were filled with love for each other, served one another, and took care of each other.

 A day like this is worthy of celebrating

Jesus Taken Up Into Heaven

After his suffering, Jesus showed himself to these men and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God. On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: "Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. For John baptized with[1] water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit." 
So when they met together, they asked him, "Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?"
He said to them: "It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."
After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight. 
They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. "Men of Galilee," they said, "why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven."

50 dias depois da Ressurreição de Jesus Cristo,
10 dias depois da Sua Ascensão ao mais elevado céu, para retomar a Sua posição de Glória e tornar-se Intercessor em favor dos homens,
o Espírito Santo "aterra" no meio daqueles que, sem cessar, buscavam a direção e presença de Deus:
um vento impetuoso encheu o lugar, línguas de fogo espalharam-se por toda a divisão e
começaram a LOUVAR A DEUS em línguas desconhecidas deles mesmos.
Os restantes Judeus que tinham vindo de vários países celebrar o Pentecostes em Jerusalém,
reconheceram que eles estavam a falar das grandezas de Deus em egípcio e nas outras diferentes línguas estrangeiras.
Muitos reconheceram que Jesus era Deus e Salvador e tornaram-se Seus discípulos.
Foi assim que começou a Igreja Cristã.

50 days after the Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
10 days after His Ascension to the highest heaven, where He took back His place of Glory and became Intercessor/Mediator in favor of men,
a strong, impetuous wind came into the place where Jesus' disciples continuously searched for the will and presence of God, like tongues of fire were seen by everyone spreading all over the place. They all began to praise Jesus in foreign languages that were unknown to them, but that the Jews from other countries that were assembled in Jerusalem to celebrate Pentecost readily recognised as the ones of the country they now were living in.
Many recognised the presence of God and accepted the divinity and salvation of Christ.
This was the beginning of Christianity.

Today is Pentecost Sunday. Tomorrow will be Pentecost Monday, a holiday in a couple of countries in Europe.
John the Baptist had baptized with water, but Jesus would baptize with the Spirit and with fire. The disciples had been warned about the arrival of the Holy Spirit. But they did not know how and when He would come. Fire cleans in a deeper way than water. That is what Pentecost is about: the immersion of Jesus' followers not in water, but in the Spirit of God.
Hoje é Domingo de Pentecostes. Amanhã, Segunda Feira de Pentecostes, é feriado em vários países europeus.
João Baptista batizara com água, mas Jesus batizaria com o Espírito Santo e com fogo. Os discípulos tinham sido avisados, mas não sabiam quando e como aconteceria. O fogo limpa de forma mais profunda do que a água. É disso que o Pentecostes fala: a imersão dos discípulos de Jesus não em água, mas no Espírito Santo.
They would no more be able to hide their faith in Christ.

Something surprising happened in Jerusalem centuries ago. Jews and foreigners from the whole world had gathered in Jerusalem for the Jewish Pentecost celebration.
Algo fantástico aconteceu em Jerusalem há séculos atrás. Judeus e estrangeiros de todo o mundo estavam em Jerusalém para celebrar o Pentecostes judaico.
The disciples of Christ were praying together, as Jesus had instructed them. They were now under suspicion of the authorities. Their leader had been crucified about fifty three days ago, had ressurrected from death fifty days before and ten days before had been lifted up to heaven before their eyes.
Os discípulos de Jesus encontravam-se reunidos a orar, aguardando, conforme Jesus os instruira. Encontravam-se sob o olhar de suspeição das autoridades romanas e judaicas e precisavam de orientação. O seu líder fora crucificado cerca de 53 dias antes, ressuscitara cinquenta dias antes e subira para o céu, à frente dos seus olhos, dez dias atrás...
The place where they were was suddenly filled with a SOUND FROM HEAVEN, like the blowing of a VIOLENT WIND, which filled the WHOLE HOUSE...and THERE APPEARED TO THEM TONGUES RESEMBLING FIRE...which settled on each one of them, and they were aLL FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT and began TO SPEAK in different, FOREIGN LANGUAGES.. Today is Pentecost Sunday. Hoje é Domingo de Pentecostes.

Here is a 50.50 wide, 33.50 high (dimensions) watercolour signed by the artist Estella Manzini ( 1887 - 1964 ), entitled PENTECOST. It represents the powerful Descent of the Holy Spirit over the followers of Christ. It marks the end of a 5o day period of fear from persecution and the beginning of their courageous testimony to both Romans and Jews, and people from every nation.

PENTECOST - O PENTECOSTES

Ten days after ASCENSION, on the 31st May, PENTECOST is celebrated, exactly 50 days after JESUS RESURRECTION. Dez dias depois da ASCENSÃO de JESUS, assinala-se o PENTECOSTES, exactamente 50 dias depois da RESSURREIÇÃO DE JESUS. Este ano calha a 31 de Maio.
What is celebrated? The descent of the Holy Spirit on Jesus' followers.
O que é assinalado? A descida do Espírito Santo sobre os seguidores de Jesus.
For ten days the disciples had been united waiting for the coming of the Holy Spirit to their lives. Durante dez dias os discípulos tinham estado juntos aguardando a vinda do Espírito Santo para as suas vidas.
What happened? A stormy wind filled the place where they were sitting and the likeness of fire tongues fell on each of them and they began to worship God in FOREIGN LANGUAGES they did not know, but that the Jews visiting Jerusalem because of the Feat of the Tabernacles, and coming from other nations, fully recognised as being of the countries they were now living in.
O que aconteceu?
