ASCENSION DAY - DIA DA ASCENSÃO DE CRISTO

In Portugal we call it " Dia da Ascensão" ou 5ª Feira de Ascensão/Espiga.

It is celebrated 40 days AFTER RESURRECTION SUNDAY and 10 days BEFORE PENTECOST SUNDAY.
Ascension symbols: balloon going up and the clouds where Jesus stood as He went up and the clouds on which He promised He will be back to earth.
Pentecost symbols: the dove, the fire languages on top of His Followers' heads, and the foreign languages the disciples used to praise Christ on that day. 

A ASCENSÃO relembra que CRISTO VOLTOU PARA O CÉU

O DIA DE PENTECOSTES relembra que O ESPÍRITO SANTO DESCEU À TERRA para habitar dentro daqueles que recebem Cristo nas suas vidas, como Salvador e Senhor.

O primeiro está associado a subida de balão, a nuvens sobre as quais Cristo foi levado e sobre as quais prometeu voltará.

O Pentecostes está associado aos símbolos da pomba, de línguas de fogo sobre as cabeças dos seguidores de Cristo, reunidos na altura na mesma casa e ainda a línguas estrangeiras porque os discípulos, apesar de desconhecedores das mesmas, nelas prestaram louvores a Deus nesse dia especial. Os Judeus vindo de várias nações ouviram-nos, surpreendidos, louvar a Deus nas línguas dos países de onde tinham vindo.

PENTECOST - O PENTECOSTES

Today is Pentecost Sunday. Hoje é Domingo de Pentecostes.

Here is a 50.50 wide, 33.50 high (dimensions) watercolour signed by the artist Estella Manzini ( 1887 - 1964 ), entitled PENTECOST. It represents the powerful Descent of the Holy Spirit over the followers of Christ. It marks the end of a 5o day period of fear from persecution and the beginning of their courageous testimony to both Romans and Jews, and people from every nation.
